
Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Juneau-Douglas High School: Yadaa.at Kalé Crimson Bears girls soccer team swept the visiting Ketchikan Lady Kings over the weekend, winning 10-0 on Friday and 10-0 Saturday.
While JDHS was a superior side on the pitch, the Crimson Bears also shared their roster during the junior varsity contests to allow the visiting Lady Kings valuable playing time and experience.
Crimson Bears scoring in the Friday win included sophomore Cadence Plummer assisted by senior Kyla Bentz, senior Brooke Sanford assisted by classmate Blake Plummer, Bentz unassisted, C. Plummer assisted by senior Ella Goldstein, Bentz two scores assisted by B. Plummer, Bentz assisted by C. Plummer, C. Plummer assisted by B. Plummer, B. Plummer assisted by Goldstein and senior Merry Newman unassisted.
Newman earned the Crimson Bears Hard Hat award.
“Merry had a great game,” JDHS coach Matt Dusenberry said. “And from an outside back position looked to be part of the attack - even scoring a goal.”
In Saturday’s win, freshman Natalie Travis scored unassisted, B. Plummer and C. Plummer scored assisted by Goldstein, Goldstein scored unassisted, Goldstein scored assisted by Bentz, Bentz scored two goals assisted by Sanford and Goldstein, C. Plummer scored assisted by Bentz, Goldstein scored assisted by B. Plummer and Sanford scored unassisted.
Goldstein earned the Hard Hat award.
“Ella had a fantastic game,” Dusenberry said. “Finding the net three times and finding her teammates three times as well.”
