Water pressure restored in Sitka after Blue Lake issue

Sitka, Alaska (KINY) - The City and Borough of Sitka Water Division had been utilizing storage tank water exclusively since approximately 4 p.m. on Oct. 26 due to high levels of turbidity in Blue Lake.

At approximately 4 a.m. on Oct. 27, the turbidity levels in Blue Lake dropped to acceptable levels allowing water operators to enable Blue Lake water to enter the system, restoring water pressure and refilling storage tanks.

No Federal or State drinking water regulations were violated during the event.

Water pressure will return to normal and the public is not required to take any special precautions at this time.

Water operators will continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates if the situation progresses.
