Latest COVID numbers for Juneau and Alaska

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Nine new COVID cases were reported in Juneau Thursday by the CBJ Emergency Operations Center.

    Eight are residents.  Public Health is attributing one case to community spread and the remainder are under investigation.

    The cluster associated with the small daycare remains at 10 cases with one recovered.

    Statewide, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reported 194 new cases.

    The state also reports 20 additional deaths following a death certificate review.  One death took place in December, ten in February, and nine in March bringing the total resident death toll to 329 and nine nonresidents.

    The latest report says 54.8 percent of Juneau's population or 17,418 people have received their first dose of vaccine and 14,369 or 45.2 percent have completed their vaccine series.

    Statewide 274,524 have received their first dose and 225,226 are fully vaccinated.
