Juneau COVID Update: Rising cases lead officials to recommend masking for all in indoor public spaces

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Due to a rise in COVID-19 cases locally and statewide, Juneau health officials are recommending that all people--regardless of vaccination status--wear a mask in indoor public spaces.

    The Emergency Operations Center reported 24 new COVID-19 cases between July 17 and 19 in Juneau. Twenty-two of that number are residents and two are non-residents.

    American Cruise Lines' cluster aboard the American Constellation, which is docked in Juneau, remains at 16 total cases. Nine people have recovered so far.

    Sitka's active caseload was over 150 Sunday evening. Its 14-day rolling case rate continues to increase.
